Miami, FL - I normally take photos of aftermaths of natural disasters, but I decided to do a different perspective for Irma because photographing damage all looks the same after a while and it would be no different than what the news is reporting. Here’s a shot I took from urban Miami after most of the power had been knocked out after Irma in South Florida. Without light pollution, looking south you were able to see the Milky Way in all its glory. I haven’t been able to see it from the Miami area since August of 1992. What’s more fun is that Saturn is somewhere in that mix of stars but it’s difficult to make out which dot it is. I also illuminated the foreground with a flashlight to give the image some depth.
