Pennybacker Bridge

Springtime in the Texas Panhandle. This photo was taken about 25 miles west of Childress, TX. These sunflowers went as far as the eye could see. The previous night storms had passed through the area giving everything a warm moist glow. Since it was the peak of spring, the landscape had more vibrancy than usual.

I've always found trains fascinating. I took this picture southeast of Austin, TX as I was driving aimlessly looking for cloud formations over the landscape. The clouds weren't cooperating but then I heard a loud blaring train horn and noticed a train approaching from the distance. There was no crossing arm for the train and as you can see in the picture there's only a yield sign. As a result, the train was only moving at most 10 mph. This also allowed me to leave the shutter open a tad longer so I could get a better depth of field. He even waved at me as he went past me.

This is the Trinity River near Houston, TX which is a tributary of Trinity Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. The water is a few feet higher than normal due to the floods in East Texas back in late May. The area smelled like dead fish because as the waters receded the fish ended up stuck on the land and dying.
